While Dr. Gail Weingast officially became a physician in 1976, it was kind of obvious that medicine wasn’t her first choice, given that her first degree was in Spanish, not pre-med. As usual for a doctor, of course, graduating medical school was just the beginning. Dr. Gail Weingast did a pediatrics internship from 1976-1977 at Colorado General Hospital in Denver. That was followed by a residency in pediatrics over the next two years, a radiology residency from 1980-1983.
Dr. Gail Weingast then competed a fellowship in ultrasound technology in 1983 and she completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist from 1983 to 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver. She then practiced at several other hospitals in Colorado and New York, until she settled into her current position, as a highly regarded radiology specialist at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she has been for more than a couple decades. She is currently their Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging and she has led her department to its current position as one of the top such facilities in the country. Over all, with more than four decades of knowledge and experience, Dr. Weingast values every aspect of her educational and career journey because it has all contributed to make her the doctor she is today.
