For the future Dr. Gail Weingast, the educational journey that started her on her way to her current position, as a world class radiologist. These days, Dr. Gail Weingast serves as a highly regarded radiology specialist at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. At that hospital, Dr. Weingast is the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging and in her 20 years there, she has brought her radiology department into prominence, as one of the finest in New England.
While the path to her current position didn’t always follow a straight line, she values every aspect of her journey because it all made her the doctor she is today. That journey actually commenced in 1969, but it wasn’t always clear Gail Weingast wanted a career as a medical professional. The first phase of her education came at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. At their Jackson College, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, indicating that medicine wasn’t at the top of her career list at the time. That certainly changed soon after, though, because she attended the Boston University School of Medicine, and officially became Dr. Gail Weingast MD in 1976.
That was not the end of her education, of course; for doctors, it never is. Following medical school, Dr. Gail Weingast completed a pediatrics internship from 1976-1977 and then followed that up by completing a pediatrics residency over the subsequent two years. Still under the auspices of Colorado General Hospital in Denver, she also completed a residency in radiology from 1980 to 1983 and a fellowship in the field of ultrasound in 1983. Dr. Weingast managed to complete her post-graduate studies as a radiologist from 1983 to 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, which is also located in Denver.
Once her studies were complete, Dr. Gail Weingast practiced worked at several other hospitals in Colorado, before working in another in New York, before she finally settled into her current position, where she has been for more than two decades.
